We’re thrilled to share that Silvia Garza de Romero, a faculty member at JPII, has been invited to participate in the Latino Educator and Administrator Development (LEAD) program at the University of Notre Dame.
Silvia is excited to participate and said, “I’ve always been passionate about positively impacting my community. The LEAD program will help me develop the necessary skills and knowledge to achieve this goal. I’m grateful for the opportunity and can’t wait to get started.”
This one-year fellowship is designed to develop leaders and will begin with a virtual orientation on July 28, 2023. From August 2023 to May 2024, Silvia will meet monthly with a professional learning community led by a Latina/o expert in the field. The program includes a winter retreat in Phoenix, AZ on January 19–21, 2024, and culminates in a three-day conference on the University of Notre Dame campus on July 17–19, 2024.
“We are so proud of Silvia and her drive to grow and embrace opportunities for professional and personal development,” said JPII Principal, Kayla Brown.
Silvia has a Master of Arts in Spanish and is part of JPII’s World Language Department where she teaches Spanish and Dual Credit Spanish. Silvia serves as the Chapter President of the AATSP Lone Star & sponsor for the Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica.
