Emma Wilkins Earns Top Honors and Advances to State Choir Auditions
John Paul II High School’s Vocal Music department continues to achieve excellence, demonstrating its strength and talent at the recent Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) Small School Region Choir Auditions. Competing against 265 students from 1A–4A public schools, JPII’s representatives performed with distinction.
We are proud to announce that junior Emma Wilkins has been selected for the prestigious Region 2 TMEA Small School Mixed All-Region Choir. In a highly competitive Soprano section of 75 students, Emma secured the 4th Chair position through a rigorous audition process that included prepared music cuts and a sight-reading evaluation. This outstanding achievement also qualifies her to advance to the next level of auditions for the TMEA All-State Choir.
When asked about singing in the All-Region Choir, Emma said, “Singing in the All-Region Choir means to me a multitude of things, but mainly the sense of unity. For a moment, when we come together from diverse backgrounds, schools, ethnicities, and religions, we can communicate and find peace with one another. Even with everything going on in the outside world, we get away for a moment and just sing, having music unite us as one.”

John Paul II High School holds a unique position as the only private institution in the Dallas-Fort Worth area to have students selected to audition for this choir. The success of Emma and the strong performances of our other participating students underscore the high caliber of our Vocal Music program and its ability to compete at an elite level.
The community is invited to celebrate this musical accomplishment by attending the TMEA All-Region Choir Concert.
