John Paul II High School Sets Record with 50 Students Earning Python Programming Certification
John Paul II High School is proud to announce a record-breaking achievement in its computer science program. This past year, an unprecedented 50 students earned their PCEP™ – Certified Entry-Level Python Programmer certification, a testament to their dedication and the school's commitment to excellence in education. This accomplishment nearly doubles the typical number of certifications awarded annually.
The PCEP certification is a professional credential that demonstrates a student's proficiency in the Python programming language. It validates their understanding of universal computer programming concepts, including data types, containers, functions, conditions, and loops. Additionally, it confirms their grasp of Python syntax and semantics, as well as the runtime environment. Earning this certification signifies that a student is well-prepared for entry-level roles and further studies in the tech field.
Mr. John L. M. Schram, a Computer Science teacher and Robotics Mentor at JPII, expressed his excitement about this year's results. "We had a record number of PCEP certified students this past year," he shared. "Normally, when I combine the certified students from summer school with the past school year, it is around 20-25 students. This past year, we actually had 50 students earn their PCEP certification!"
This significant increase highlights the growing interest and aptitude for computer science among JPII students. It also reflects the high-quality instruction and support provided by the school's dedicated faculty.
