John Paul II High School Recognized with Highest Platinum on 2025 AP® School Honor Roll*
*JPII was recognized on the AP School Honor Roll for three consecutive years.
John Paul II has been recognized on the AP® School Honor Roll for the 2024-25 school year for promoting a college-going culture, expanding opportunities for students to earn college credit, maximizing college readiness, and providing a clear and effective commitment to equitable access to advanced coursework.
Only the top 7% of schools in the country get platinum status.
JPII received the Platinum designation, the highest of the AP® School Honor Roll’s four levels of distinction, for exceeding thresholds in college culture, college credit, and college optimization set by the College Board.
JPII had 86% of seniors who took at least one AP Exam during high school, 72% of seniors who scored a three or higher on at least one AP Exam, and 42% of seniors who took five or more AP Exams!
JPII offers 29 AP courses, which include 54 sections taught by 21 teachers.
Earning AP Platinum Honor Roll recognition from the College Board is a powerful affirmation of our academic program and our unwavering commitment to excellence.

“Earning AP Platinum Honor Roll recognition from the College Board is a powerful affirmation of our academic program and our unwavering commitment to excellence. This distinction reflects the dedication of our faculty, the hard work of our students, and our intentional focus on providing rigorous, meaningful opportunities that prepare students for college and beyond.”
— Dr. Daniel Ledbetter, Principal
To qualify for the AP® School Honor Roll, schools must meet specific criteria across three categories:
- College Culture: 40 percent or more of the graduating cohort must have taken at least one AP Exam during high school. For the Platinum designation, this number rises to 80 percent.
- College Credit: 25 percent or more of the graduating cohort must have scored a 3 or higher on at least one AP Exam during high school. The Platinum requirement is 50 percent.
- College Optimization: 2 percent or more of the graduating cohort must have taken five or more AP Exams during high school, with at least one of those exams taken in the 9th or 10th grade to ensure that students spread their AP experience across multiple years. For Platinum honors, the minimum requirement is 15 percent.
Congratulations to our students and faculty; being named to this list is a nod to all your hard work last year!
College Board’s Advanced Placement® Program (AP®) enables students to pursue college-level studies—with the opportunity to earn college credit, advanced placement, or both—while still in high school. Through AP courses in 40 subjects, each culminating in a challenging exam, students learn to think critically, construct solid arguments, and see many sides of an issue—skills that prepare them for college and beyond. Taking AP courses demonstrates to college admissions officers that students have sought the most challenging curriculum available to them, and research indicates that students who score a 3 or higher on an AP Exam typically experience greater academic success in college and are more likely to earn a college degree than non-AP students.
