The Annual Fund

Each year, the Annual Fund—John Paul II High School's #1 annual-giving priority—provides vital resources that bolster every aspect of the exceptional JPII education and benefit every student.

Every year, gifts from JPII faculty, staff, parents, alumni, grandparents, and friends come together to further our mission and vision. These gifts directly improve technology, security, and facilities across our campus and allow us to retain our exceptional faculty while elevating our quality of education.

Events that support the Annual Fund include North Texas Giving Day and the Annual Legacy Gala.

Tuition Assistance

Tuition assistance is an important investment in Catholic education. Our commitment to providing accessible and affordable education to all families is a hallmark of our faith in the educational mission of the Catholic church. Through the generosity of our benefactors, we will continue to offer students the lasting gift of Catholic education by providing tuition assistance to families that qualify.

The annual Balint Cup Golf Tournament at Gleneagles Country Club supports tuition assistance.

The President’s Circle

The Office of Advancement launched the President’s Circle in 2012 to facilitate continued support of the school’s general operations. President’s Circle members are individuals or families that provide at a designated level of generosity. The generosity of President’s Circle members contributes to the Annual Fund or other areas of the school that support every student, teacher, and program. This funding provides the flexibility to respond to changing circumstances and take advantage of new opportunities. Every gift makes a difference.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why is the Annual Fund SO critical?

The annual Fund represents the most critical dollars for the school’s financial health. It provides unrestricted support so that the school has the flexibility and opportunity to invest these dollars where they are needed most.

Annual giving helps fund every area of the school, including professional development, student services, curriculum development, campus ministry, fine arts, facilities, technology, and athletics. These unrestricted gifts are applied wherever the need is greatest and are essential to the school’s excellence and financial strength.

Doesn't tuition cover all the expenses?

Tuition covers most of the expenses of educating a student, but it does not cover 100% of the cost. JPII relies on the unrestricted gifts of the annual fund to cover the remaining gap between tuition and the actual cost of educating each student.

How much should I give?

Parents are asked to help fill the gap between what it costs to educate their child(ren) and the tuition they pay. Every gift makes a difference, and the school respectfully asks parents to give what they can. Regardless of the amount, each donation is a statement of support for JPII!

Can I make a more significant annual gift by paying in installments?

Yes! You may make a gift or pledge. If you wish to pay your gift in installments, you may make a pledge and inform us how and when you plan to make additional installments; all pledges are due by June 30 (the end of our fiscal year). For further information on pledges or to discuss arrangements for your gift, don't hesitate to contact Kristen McCaffery via email: kristenmccafffery@johnpauliihs.org.

What are matching gifts?

Matching gifts are a great way to increase your annual fund gift. Many companies support their employees' giving by matching, and sometimes doubling, their gifts; by matching the donations, these businesses support their employees' philanthropic efforts. If your company offers this benefit, request a matching gift form from your employee and send it completed and signed with your gift. We will submit the form and complete the process for you.

What are some ways I can give?

The simplest way to support JPII is through cash gifts. However, creative gifts of assets can include stocks, bonds, and property (real estate and personal property such as artwork). These can not only provide you with charitable deductions but can also offer additional tax savings.

  • Gifts of Stock, Wire Transfer, or Donor-Advised Fund
    • Individuals, families, and businesses can make tax-deductible charitable gifts directly through a wire, transfer of securities, or from a Donor-Advised Fund. If you have questions or would like further information, don't hesitate to get in touch with Kristen McCaffery via email: kristenmccaffery@johnpauliihs.org
  • Cash, Checks, & Credit Card Donations
    • Cash gifts should be hand-delivered to the Advancement office. Checks payable to John Paul II High School may be mailed to the Office of Advancement at John Paul II High School, 900 Coit Rd., Plano, TX 75075. Credit cards are accepted online and may be the easiest way for many to contribute.
  • Bequest from your Will or Living Trust
    • You can easily make a charitable gift of a specific dollar amount, percentage of your estate/trust, a certain asset or make a charity a “residual beneficiary”. In addition to a very generous charitable gift, your trust or estate receives an estate tax to the action as well.
  • Beneficiary Designation from a Retirement Plan
    • By designating charity as a beneficiary of your retirement plan, you support important charitable work and avoid both estate and income tax.
  • Charitable Gift of a Life Insurance Policy
    • You can assign whole life insurance policies to a charity and name such charity as the beneficiary. In return for your generosity, you receive a tax deduction for the premiums you paid on the policy.
