Mr. Michael Browning, B.M.

Michael Browning is a founding faculty member of John Paul II High School.  

Mr. Browning graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1992 with a Bachelor of Music in Trombone Performance.  He then attended the University of Illinois for one year prior to winning a position in the United States Air Force Band of the Golden West in San Francisco, California.  While in the USAF Band, Mr. Browning was the musical director of the Commanders Jazz Ensemble as well as the principal and bass trombonist in the Wind Ensemble.  Mr. Browning left the USAF in 1998 and became a member of the 531st Band of the Texas Air National Guard.

Prior to joining the faculty of JPIIHS, Mr. Browning was a band director in the Garland ISD.  In addition to teaching band at JPIIHS, Mr. Browning performs locally with many professional groups such as the Dallas Wind Symphony, Fort Worth Symphony, Fort Worth Pops, Dallas Jazz Orchestra, as well as many recording sessions.  Mr. Browning is currently the musical director of the Frisco Jazz Band and the Celebration Jazz Orchestra.

In his spare time, Mr. Browning enjoys spending time with his very patient wife Rebecca and sons Geoff (JPII 14'), Matt, and Reed.
