Dear John Paul II HS Families:

On behalf of John Paul II HS Parent Teacher Student Organization ("PTSO”), I would like to welcome all new and returning families to JPII HS--home of the Cardinals!  Your PTSO looks forward to another great year of exciting programs and continuing the many “traditions” started two short years ago.  Last year was PTSO's first full year at JPII HS and many new programs and events were implemented.  Some of the new programs and events were:  Career Symposium, Catholic Schools Week, Cultural Arts, Directory, Hospitality, Mentor Moms, Red Ribbon Week, Speaker Presentations to Parents and Students, Teacher Appreciation Events, Back-to-School Packets, Welcome Reception, and providing many volunteer hours to our teachers and staff.  All this and more was made possible with the participation of our great parent volunteers!  This year is guaranteed to be another success with your continued hard work and support.

The PTSO has been hard at work planning the 2007-2008 school year at JPII HS.  In order to assist both you and the PTSO, we have assembled important information and forms.  For your convenience, we have included a “Check-out Form” which is a checklist of what to return and enables you to make one payment by cash or check.  If paying by check, please make payable to “JPII HS PTSO” and return in an envelope to the Front Desk at JPII HS.  Attached are:

1)  PTSO Check-out Form -  This is a checklist so you don"t miss anything and allows you to write one check or make one cash payment;

2)  PTSO Membership Form – Your membership allows you to be part of our great PTSO which serves the students, parents, teachers and staff—the JPII Community.  Also, your membership allows you to receive a Student Directory.  Remember, you need to be a PTSO member to receive a directory;

3)  Name Tag Order Form – This name tag is for parents/volunteers to wear at school events.  It also helps build community by getting to know each other by name.  This is not for students;

4)  PTSO Volunteer Form –Volunteering is a great way to share your time and talents with JPII HS.  Our school can only be as great as the people who work and volunteer;

5)  Safe Environment Training Information – In order to volunteer at JPII HS, this training is mandatory and is a policy of the Diocese of Dallas and one which JPII HS supports.  We take the protection of our students, faculty, staff, and volunteers seriously; and

6)  Directory Information Form – The PTSO needs this form completed and signed in order to publish your information in the JPII HS Student Directory.

The PTSO uses various forms of communication to keep you informed of events at JPII HS throughout the year.  Our main ways of communicating are the JPII HS website, www.johnpauliihs.org, and the Cardinal Express Newsletter.   If you are not receiving the Cardinal Express Newsletter, please email me and I will make sure you are added to the distribution list.

In closing, this year promises to be another successful one at John Paul II HS.  We encourage you to stay informed and involved at your school.  If you have any questions or suggestions regarding PTSO, please do not hesitate to contact me.  May we be blessed with God’s goodness as we begin this school year.
